OPENING RECEPTION & EVENT SCHEDULE |
for Sand to Stone: Contemporary Native American Art in Joshua Tree
The 29 Palms Art Gallery is hosting a special reception celebrating all aspects of this large multidisciplinary project. In addition to the Sand to Stone Art Exhibition with the featured contemporary Native American artists, the evening will feature an artists' discussion with artists, Gerald Clarke Jr., Lewis deSoto, and Cara Romero, and will be moderated by Curator, Rhonda Lane Coleman. Following the artists' discussion will be a special performance by Intertribal Bird Singers and Dancers in the courtyard at 29 Palms Art Gallery. All artists, participants and partners are invited to join in the festivities. From 29 Palms Art Gallery, a short walk will take you to the JTNP Oasis of Mara for the site-specific installation, Carlota, by Lewis deSoto. This art installation can also be seen beginning at JTNP Oasis Visitor Center in Twentynine Palms.
